Bae Myung Ho has a 13-5 MMA record and is currently on a 5 fight win streak, defeating names such as Adam Kayoom and Rodney MacSwain. He’s the current Legend FC Welterweight Champion and is considered one of the best welterweights in Asia. Guys like him because of his cool exterior and sheer toughness. Girls love him because he’s a hot dude who fights and he’s also been an underwear model too. All the girls from the Nation who might want to check out a hunky piece of man meat should click on the link right here. Who says we don’t show our female fans some love?
Whichever way you look at it, Bae Myung Ho is money and fight promoters are sitting up and realizing his marketability both as a fighter and as a star in their promotion, even the UFC. So the questions is, why isn’t Bae Myung Ho, “The Wolverine”, fighting on the UFC Macao card? It is a question that has been left unanswered much like why Aquaman is an actual superhero. I mean like really, what does Aquaman do?
MMAPlanet.jp recently did an interview with Bae on why he will not be at UFC Macao this November. The interview has been translated by some dude on Sherdog and here’s what Bae had to say:
On getting pulled out of his August 24 title defense of the Legend FC and on fighting at UFC Macau:
“Yes, it got cancelled because my opponent got injured. I was actually supposed to fight at UFC Macau and had gotten a contract offer, but Legend FC would not let me fight in another organization. There was actually a contract dispute because I did not know such a rule was in place.(Champions with Legend FC title belts cannot fight in another organization.)”
(Note: The above statement made me as confused as a fat kid with a salad. Wasn’t it previously announced that Bae was injured with a bulging disc? I guess not then)
On fighting for Legend FC in the future:
“I have nothing against Legend FC but my dream is to fight in the UFC, and it left a bad taste in my mouth that Legend FC would not let me fight in the UFC when I was prepared physically to do so. It is not a fun situation right now, but I have not thought too much on whether or not I will ever fight in Legend FC again.”
On the contract clause that states that no Legend FC champion could fight in other organizations
“Oh, they have that trick under their sleeves (laughs). I never heard that this was actually a clause in the contract. I actually thought it would make more sense for Champions of smaller orgs to fight in bigger orgs to prove how strong that organization was.”
On fighting in ONE FC and the UFC
“Even though I love those rules it is a bit different also (laughs). I think ONE FC is fun, but I am not a young fighter anymore. I have to follow my path so I must fight in the UFC now. Its not just because I want to be a world renowned fighter, it’s also because I love MMA so much that I want to fight in the UFC.
27 year old, Bae Myung Ho is ready to fight in the UFC right now. When I was a baseball player I always wanted to play in the MLB. But of course I never made it to the MLB. Fighting in the UFC is like that, I want to fight and compete with the best in the world. In the end of the day everyone gives respect to a UFC fighter.”
So was this a massive c**k block by Legend FC or just a way of them protecting their investment? I’m not quite sure as it really depends on which side of the fence you stand on, much like the debate on boob jobs. It’s an argument that might go on forever and ever but in the end, there’s a high chance it’ll just end up making you sick. So let’s hope that “The Wolverine” works everything out and returns shortly either in Legend FC or with the UFC. Regardless of where he fights, Bae is one of the hottest prospects to come out of Asia and its only a matter of time before he makes an impact on the international scene.
