Doo Ho Choi has been one of the fastest rising stars in Asian MMA today. At only 22 years of age, Choi has made a huge impact on the Asian MMA scene and his accomplishments in such a short period of time has made the critics sit up and take notice. Choi, who is South Korean, has a 11-1 record and is currently on a 9 fight win streak. He is without a doubt one of the hottest commodities in Asian MMA today.
With a reputation and the record to match, it was no surprise that he was on the UFC’s radar. The promotion eventually made him an offer and he accepted it. Choi’s style of fighting is exactly what the UFC wants. He’s a very exciting fighter who has had finishes in 9 out of his 11 victories, 8 of those by knockout. Furthermore, signing Choi would be in line with the UFC’s plans to expand its operations in Asia. It’s an absolute no-brainer.
Sources close to the situation have confirmed with us that Choi will be making his long awaited debut in Singapore on January the 4th 2014. The UFC has confirmed that it will be holding its first ever event in Singapore on that date at Singapore’s luxurious Marina Bay Sands. The event will be the promotion’s first show in Southeast Asia. While no opponent has been named yet, it is close to confirmed that fans will see him make his Octagon debut in the Lion City.
