It has just been announced that fan favorite, Hector “Lightning” Lombard will be facing Yushin “Thunder” Okami at UFC on Fuel TV 8 in Japan.
Okami will be coming into this match up on a 2 fight win streak, defeating both Buddy Roberts and Alan Belcher in impressive fashion. The match up will also be an opportunity for Okami at redemption in front of his home crowd. If you may recall, Okami lost to Tim Boetsch via TKO in the 3rd round at UFC 144 in Japan early last year.
His opponent, Hector Lombard, will be coming into the bout off a win against leg lock master Rousimar Palhares. Lombard showed fans what he was really made of in his fight against Palhares when he completely blitzkrieg the Brazilian and TKO’ed him in the first round.
Both fighters will be entering into this bout with momentum on their side and a win would put either one of them in the upper echelon of the UFC’s Middleweight division. UFC on Fuel TV 8 goes down at the Saitama Arena, Japan on March 3rd and will be headlined by a match up between Wanderlei Silva and Brian Stann.
