According to MMA-IN-ASIA, Pacific Xtreme Combat will be returning to the Philippines on the 14th of September for PXC 39. The event will be held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and headlined by a PXC Featherweight title match between South Korean Jang Yong Kim and, arguably one of the fastest rising stars in Asian MMA, Mark Striegl.
Jang Yong Kim (6-5) fights out of the famed Korean Top Team and is coming off a win against Nate Thorell. Kim completely destroyed Thorell and submitted him in under 4 minutes of the first round at PXC 37. Kim is a very well rounded fighter who has both knockout power and sick grappling skills if the fight is taken to the ground. However, he has a big task ahead of him and that’s in the form of Mark Striegl.
Striegl is undefeated with a record of 12 wins and no losses. What’s even more impressive is the fact that 10 out of the 12 wins have come via submission. Striegl was last seen manhandling and submitting PXC Lightweight champion Harris Sarmiento. Striegl took the champion down with ease and defeated him with a textbook scarf hold arm lock at 2:37 in the first round. Striegl has been an unstoppable force but Kim might just be his toughest challenge to date.
Also on the card, Takumi Nakayama will be making his return to the PXC cage to face former UFC fighter Shane “Sugar” Nelson. Nakayama, the current Featherweight King Of Pancrase, is coming off a win against Jonathan Pecyna at PXC 37. Nakayama has not lost a single match in his last 7 fights. Nelson on the other hand will be coming into the match looking to recover from a 2 fight losing streak.
