Mad ups to ONE FC for making it’s Pride of a Nation show DA BOMB! It had action, it had controversy, it had those sexy ring girls go Gangnam Style, some crazy ass finishes and I had a rawsome Colt 45 mug for free! How cool is that? Maybe not as cool as having chicks go gaga over me because I was a badass fighter but hey, I’ll take what I can get. ONE FC: Pride of a Nation is what I call an event “and then some”. And while we’re all feeling bummed out with that post ONE FC feeling, we can take solace in the fact that in 4 weeks ONE FC will be back with ONE FC: Rise of Kings.
ONE FC: Rise of Kings will be taking place in 34 days on the 6th of October at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. As you might already know, the event will crown it’s first ONE FC champions. 2 of the title bouts were confirmed at ONE FC’s event held last weekend in Manila.
The first title match will be for the ONE FC Featherweight title between Muayfit’s Eric “The Natural” Kelly and Team Lakay’s Honorio Banario. It would be interesting to note that both Kelly and Banario are current URCC Champions with Kelly being the current URCC Featherweight Champion and Banario being the URCC Lightweight Champion. Both guys are coming off huge wins at ONE FC: Pride of a Nation. Fans saw Kelly defeat Jens Pulver via TKO in round 2 and Banario defeated fellow Filipino fighter Andrew Benibe in the 3rd. This will definitely be a tough fight for both men who have been on a tear ever since they started fighting professionally.
The 2nd title fight announced will be between 2 of the most popular fighters in the whole of Asia. Team Lakay’s Eduard Folayang will be facing Evolve MMA’s Zorobabel Moreira. Folayang, who is without a doubt the most popular fighter in the Philippines, just defeated Felipe Enomoto last Friday to earn the right to fight for the lightweight title. His opponent, Zorobabel Moreira is also a huge fan favorite, especially in Singapore, where he trains out of Evolve MMA. Moreira was last seen defeating Roger Huerta via TKO at ONE FC: Destiny of Warriors.
ONE FC: Rise of Kings will also see Melvin Manhoef and Singapore’s first professional MMA fighter Radeem Rahman appear on the card. The event will be headlined by the best lightweight in Asia, Shinya Aoki in a Superfight against top French fighter Arnaud “The Game” Lepont.
